Clinical Consultation
Clinical case study groups
and consultation are wonderful ways to develop clinical confidence, build your professional
network, and deepen your understanding of both the work and yourself as a
psychotherapist. I offer case study groups, individual consultation, and supervision to clinicians who are interested in analytically-informed relational psychotherapy. I am a current supervisor
at The Psychotherapy Institute and Women's Therapy Center and
have previously supervised at The Wright Institute, East Bay Agency for Children, and The Pacific Center.
The following group is currently accepting members:
Build Clinical Confidence as You Build Your Practice
This
group is for clinicians who would like to hone their clinical skills in
analytically-oriented relational therapy as they develop their private
practice. It is an ideal opportunity for therapists who are newer to
private practice, want an affordable way to get consultation, and who want to
develop their network of colleagues who know their work well.
The
group will begin with 30 minutes devoted to practice development issues such as
- Setting and
reevaluating fees
- Avoiding
burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma
- Setting
cancellation and other policies
- Attending to
the business side of practice and how it impacts the clinical work
There
will also be a 50-minute case presentation, rotating weekly. Through the
presentation and following discussion, the group will focus on
- Listening
for the unconscious
- Working in
the transference and making use of countertransference
- The symbolic
meaning of the frame and addressing frame challenges
- The impact
of cultural factors as they pertain to power, identity, and difference
- Tracking process
and addressing the therapeutic relationship in the here and now
The group will meet in
Berkeley on Wednesdays, the exact times will be determined by what works best
for those interested. Fee
will be $45 if the group is 3 people, $40 if the group is 4 or 5 people. A six-session commitment is
required.
